Long time no see.

In fact, that should be ‘long time never seen’. In twenty-odd years of living here on Lamb Island and observing the island’s fairly prolific bird population, I’ve never hosted a Channel-Billed Cuckoo before yesterday, although apparently they come to Australia from PNG and South-East Asia every Spring and Summer for cuckolding duties. The shot doesn’t really do justice to the bird, but my excuse is that it was a long way up a eucalypt on our waterfront hillside, and this was the only angle I could get.
