While neighbouring Macleay and Russell Islands offer supermarkets and other shops not far from their jetties (via free waterbus travel to and from Lamb Island), if we need more there’s also the relative convenience of the Redland Bay shopping centre, around a kilometre from the mainland waterbus jetties (aka the Weinam Creek Marina). For me (not being big on bigness), it’s just the right size – a pleasant human-scale environment with an IGA supermarket, butcher, post office, bakeries, bottle shop, medical surgeries and pharmacy, and other retail businesses. Alternatively, for those who want ‘more’ in excess, the huge regional centre of Victoria Point is just four kilometres farther on.
