Okay, so according to our calendars, today is officially the first day of Spring. Suddenly, at midnight (and not a second before), the weather was supposed to have changed. And yet here on Lamb Island, wood ducks have been parading newly-sprung ducklings around for a couple of weeks now. And along with much of the local native flora, the lavender in our courtyard has been flowering for at least that long. Personally, I think Mother Nature’s showing a certain contempt for human convention. Which, in a tit-for-tat way, is probably fair enough, I guess.
