Even though I’d noticed that there weren’t any kids fishing off the jetty, I hadn’t realised that the school holidays had finished until I saw the above. This is where the Lamb Island kids park their bikes before getting the waterbus to school (the primary kids go to nearby Macleay Island where a supervised bus picks them up, while high school kids go to the mainland and get special buses). I think the unsecured skateboard and helmet say something about both the size and the culture of our island.
