A blog about Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, Queensland – a unique little paradise under forty kilometres as the seagull flies from Brisbane CBD.
Because of restraints on time, and let’s face it, only limited material on a small island, some posts are being recycled/updated from earlier.

Didn’t anyone explain the exact date to Mother Nature?

Okay, so according to our calendars, today is officially the first day of Spring. Suddenly, at midnight (and not a second before), the weather was supposed to have changed. And yet here on Lamb Island, wood ducks have been parading newly-sprung ducklings around for a couple of weeks now. And along with much of the local native flora, the lavender in our courtyard has been flowering for at least that long. Personally, I think Mother Nature’s showing a certain contempt for human convention. Which, in a tit-for-tat way, is probably fair enough, I guess.
