My artistic aspirations are mostly washed up.

One of the ‘fringe’ benefits of living on the waterfront is that we occasionally find bits of driftwood washed up on the shore, some of them quite elegantly sculptured by that well-known artiste primitif, Mother Nature. The work of art above, photographed on our deck in order to validate its provenance (shown there in the background), has become an ornament in our living room.
