A blog about Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, Queensland – a unique little paradise under forty kilometres as the seagull flies from Brisbane CBD.
Because of restraints on time, and let’s face it, only limited material on a small island, some posts are being recycled/updated from earlier.
There’s not a comment facility, but if you have a question, you can use the email gizmo near the bottom of the right-hand column.

Apparently, dumping rubbish is a bloke’s job.

When Lamb Island was subdivided from its original farms into its current residential layout, the developers didn’t bring a lot of imagination to the naming of its streets. Okay, so the name of ‘Leonie Crescent’ was fairly creative, given that it’s virtually straight, but most of the others are pretty unremarkable. Except for one: the street (actually just a gravel track, but ‘street’ sounds classier) leading into the island’s rubbish dump (oops, ‘waste transfer station’ sounds classier). Am I the only person who thinks it’s a sadly typical example of gender-biased stereotyping?
