A blog about Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, Queensland – a unique little paradise under forty kilometres as the seagull flies from Brisbane CBD.
Because of restraints on time, and let’s face it, only a limited amount of material on a small island, we’re now recycling selected earlier posts.
There’s not a comment facility, but if you have a question, you can use the email gizmo near the bottom of the right-hand column.

Tom Lucas is history. Sadly, so are aesthetics.

Just up from the jetty, this is the only grave on Lamb Island, that of Thomas Lucas, the island's first settler. Born near London in 1836, he arrived in Australia and came to the island in the 1860's to farm oysters till his death in 1895. His once-simple and now heritage-listed grave has been surrounded by the tragic 'fence', and its environs gravely compromised by Lamb Island's only public phone booth being planted beside it with typical bureaucratic insensitivity.
